News from the Crime Prevention Officer

Welcome to the Tweed Valley combined Neighbourhood Watch Site.

The NSW Police Force is committed to Neighbourhood watch and having a meaningful interaction with the community of NSW.

The Tweed/Byron Local Area Command has a number of groups running, 17 at last count and is one of the most active areas for Neighbourhood watch participation in NSW.

Neighbourhood watch and its involvement with the NSW Police Force is a two way street. I attend the majority of Neighbourhood watch meetings and discuss local crime issues and concerns. Those who attend these meetings find that there is often lively discussion and a good exchange of information.

The groups have consistently highlighted community concerns as well as providing information and intelligence to the Police which has proven valuable in assisting communities with crime and anti social behaviour.

Policing involves allocating limited resources to the many problems that the community may face from time to time and the quality of information gained through neighbourhood watch and other community sources allows us to best allocate resources to problems.

This site will be used to disseminate valuable crime prevention and community information. Media releases and information on crime trends as well as stories of good police work (and good community assistance) will be published here.

The Tweed/Byron Crime Prevention Unit is available to assist with crime education, safety (environmental) assessments as well as any other crime prevention advice that you may be seeking.

Feel free to email me (follow the link on the site) or call 07) 55 360 981 if you have any specific crime prevention matters you may wish to discuss.

Thank you
